I headed out for a true Chicago style wedding on October 20th amidst a gorgeous day carved out just for Laura and Nick's wedding day. I had the honor of being their photographer which was special to me because they are not only great people, but friends as well. The day was filled with awesome cityscapes, out of this world food and plenty of laughs to go around. Laura & Nick truly make such an amazing pair. Enjoy this glimpse into their wedding day.
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Clayton, I wish you nothing but the best that life and marriage have to offer. Thank you for letting me share your special day with you. Much love <3
It was a rainy, dreary day as my cousin Eric and I were texting and calling back and forth about whether or not to have their engaged session up in Mequon, WI. The forecast had lowered the chance of rain from 75% to a mere 30% for the time we would be shooting, so we both decided we would roll the dice with the rain and I'm so glad we did.
Right in Eric's parents the backyard was this amazingly colorful fall tree that had dusted the ground with it's fall magic. It was begging for these two lovebirds to be photographed in all it's glory. We took the opportunity to get a real family photo with them and their dog Nike. She was such an obedient and friendly pup (we later became BFFs playing bumper pool in the basement).
We headed to the Mequon Forest Preserve and continued to dodge the rain. Although the skies didn't have a thread of blue in them the colors of autumn were all around making up for the lack of blue skies. It warmed my heart to see Eric with Nicole together and watch them interact. They have such a fun-loving spirit with each other...Eric had me and my husband laughing all night.
I couldn't be more thrilled than to be a part of their wedding day next Spring. They are such an adorable and fun couple. A big congratulations on the engagement Eric and Nicole, the best is yet to come :)
I headed out for Susan and Matt's engagement session praying for good weather since some heavy winds and the threat of rain caused us to reschedule earlier that week. My prayers were answered! The sky was clear and bright for most of their session as we started out in their beautiful neighborhood.
These two were definitely comfortable and happy in each other's presence. One interesting fact about Matt was his deep, unwavering loyalty to the Colorado Buffalo college footall team. Susan knowing Matt's affair with the team made sure to incorporate some items into their sessions...a helmet, jersey and a homemade sign accompanied them for the session :)
This couple was up for trying anything I threw their way. For instance, when I asked Matt to take center position and for Susan to get behind him ready to catch the imaginary ball...they went right into it without missing a beat. Turned out to be one of my fave photos of the session :)
I can't get over what a great pair these two make, they just light up when they look at each other. Being around them truly warmed my heart...and I will take any chance I can get to have people lay in a pile of fallen leaves...yes, even if they are wearing a white sweater (Sorry Susan!).
After spending the evening with Susan and Matt it's easy to see that these two are ready to walk down the aisle. Matt snagged himself a real winner, a girl who will never say "It's Me or the Colorado Buffaloes". Congratulations on your engagement Susan and Matt!
As I headed to Midway Village in Rockford, I couldn't help but think: "How did Callie & Aaron get such perfect weather?" Then I realized it is because they are two incredible people and the weather was just a wedding gift from above.
Their ceremony was filled with meaningful expressions. The "Man of Honor" played the keyboard and sang a beautiful song in tribute to the couple. They presented their parents with tea during the ceremony as a symbol of the families uniting. It was pure, touching and beautiful.
I loved everything about Callie's simple choices for the wedding from the flowers to the bridesmaids choosing their own dresses that reflected their individual styles. Oh yeah, and suspenders...you can't go wrong with suspenders (at least not on these guys).
Midway Village offers up so many awesome places for pictures. We tried our best to cram as many of those hot-spots in as possible. Sometimes you just can't beat a plan red brick wall :)
I was flattered when Callie asked me to photograph their wedding. I enjoyed every second of their Minneapolis engaged on bikes session in May. Their wedding this past weekend completed the circle by putting tears in my eyes behind the lens. I know they have many happy amazing years to come. Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Hefstad, much love.
