7 Years in Love with Many More to Come

I got to spend this last Sunday in my favorite downtown Rockford spot with another lovely couple.  Nicole and John met me down by the old Water Street Cafe and we headed out to capture some pics to commemorate their engagement.

The first thing Nicole said when I asked her if there was anything in particular they were hoping to get out of these pictures she said: "We are really more into the funny types of pics" and of course I immediately thought...I really like this couple :)

After walking to the first location Nicole cued me in that they had stopped at the Irish Rose for a pre-photo op drink...ya know, to help take the edge off.  It's not everyday that we get our pictures taken, so I totally related to having a drink to help loosen those smiley cheek muscles up :)

Both of them had such amazing eyes, and the picture above (left) helped to bring them out.  They mentioned they have a 2 year old son, and I'm sure he is as blessed in the eye-gene department thanks to his parents.
When someone says "funny" I find myself trying to look around for items that we could incorporate to help lighten the mood, and on the right you can see one of my attempts.  They were so open to the idea which I really appreciated because it makes taking pictures so much easier!  I actually really like this one.

A picture that came naturally to these two was the piggy-backed one below.  Without even my suggestion, or any hesitation for that matter...John was on Nicole's back ready for action!  I absolutely love it when guys do the same things girls typically do.  I found myself giggling behind the camera while trying to keep it steady to capture the ridiculousness of the moment.

I have to say that Nicole is one strong chick...she held John on her back for quite awhile.  I think it may have something to do with the fact that she is a swim instructor and has really great upper body strength from all that swimming exercise she must get :)

They were in such good spirits and smiling at each other constantly.  I found myself not even asking John to kiss Nicole, because he already did it on his own!  They were having conversations in 6-inch voices during a lot of the shots and I thought it was so sweet how gentle they were with each other.

I left for the day thinking that these two people have something really special together.  I am so honored that I will be there to see these two join together in marriage this November.  Congratulations on your upcoming wedding Nicole and John!

Romance in Rockford

I had the pleasure of meeting Christy and Chad back in December and couldn't wait for Spring to come to get these two in front of the camera.  I could tell right from seeing them together for the first time that they had such a strong admiration and love for one another.  As soon as some last minute wardrobe decisions were made we were off to capture this exciting time in their lives together.

Being in downtown Rockford always provides me with such inspiration and positive energy.  I was so glad that Christy and Chad were willing to take my recommendation on the location because I know what amazing backdrops downtown had to offer us.  Below is one of the more popular spots for wedding and engagement photography, but no matter how many times I come back here I always walk away with a different, unique shot.

We walked along the river stopping at things that sparked our interest.  It was a tad chilly out but they didn't seem to mind.

We headed over to the trolly station and had a little fun on the tracks.  Christy's love of Scrabble and Words with Friends lent itself to the picture on the left.  I love that they choose "forever"...my personal favorite phrase I carry in my bag.  Below is one of my favorite shots of the day, Christy looks so stunning!

The trolly garage has this amazing door that I couldn't resist snagging a quick pic by.  These two were up for anything and were willing to try any idea that I put out there - which I really had fun with!

We ended our afternoon of smiles, kisses and clicks over a tasty beverage at Carlyle Brewing Company (I can't resist their Vanilla Cream Ale).  I loved being able to put down the camera and get to know them a little bit.

Over our beverage Chad shared that he has a passion about cooking and has hopes to be a chef.  I personally love cooking...but even more than cooking...I love to eat!  They were both telling me about some of the dishes Chad has made, and I found my stomach growling and mouth watering at just the descriptions of his food.  Christy was his biggest fan and supporter, her compliments exemplifying her love for him.  If he ever works in a restaurant, I can't wait to try his food.

Please join me in congratulating a truly remarkable couple on their engagement!

These two are some of the sweetest, kindest people I have had the pleasure to work with and I cannot wait to be behind the lens during their wedding...I just hope they don't make me cry :)
