When I met Susan for the 1st time I thought to myself "If every bride were as nice as her, I could do this for the rest of my life, no problem." I got to meet Matt a few months later and then I could say I was thrilled to be working with both of them. The weeks leading up to their wedding were not filled with the soft dustings of white powder like Susan had hoped for. But when we met the week before I brought good news of snow in the forecast. The snow came, a good 1-2 inches of gorgeous white fluff. Simply the perfect amount to bring this winter wedding to life!
Susan had such smart and classy choices for her accesories: from a white beaded purse to a phenomenal vintage bracelet, she knew what she liked and I loved photographing all of it.
One of my favorite parts of the wedding day is having the chance to be there when they see each other in their soon-to-be Mr. & Mrs. attire. I try my best to be a fly on the wall and let them soak in their last moments together being single...Susan and Matt did just that.
The sun was beaming through the windows at the ceremony, reflecting the glittery light from the freshly fallen snow. The room was filled with love and such warm vibes. I'm pretty sure I was smiling through the whole thing. Especially when her sweet nieces came down the isle (pictured above) and then watching their mom talk them down the path to the bride and groom.
I love learning more about the couple's past and relationship during the wedding. Although I knew from our engagement session that Matt is a die-hard college football junkie...what I didn't realize is how supportive Susan is of his addiction. During Matt's best man's speech I learned Susan had even gone as far to make cupcakes for Matt with his favorite team logos on them earlier in their relationship. The best man said after seeing said cupcakes that he recommended that Matt get down on one knee...that night :)
There was plenty of dancing, laughter and "putting for a kiss" - a twist on the traditional clink of the glass. The speeches brought tears to my eyes and the joy on both their faces warmed my heart over and over throughout the evening. A wedding such as this one is the epitome of why I love what I do.
Big congratulations to lovely Susan & Matt - thank you for letting me share is this amazing day with you both. Sending you wishes for an abundance of love and happiness for many years to come and that you will always have, hold and watch football together.
